A Grounded Approach to Healing

At Embraced Therapy, healing happens through evidence-based care and authentic connection. We built this practice on the belief that everyone deserves a space where they can explore their deepest concerns without judgment, work through life’s challenges with professional support, and discover their own capacity for growth and transformation.

The integration of clinical expertise with a genuine understanding of life’s complexities is what sets Embraced Therapy apart. This is therapy that recognizes the full spectrum of human experience and meets people exactly where they are in their journey.

Meet the Therapist Behind the Practice

Angela Shelley is the heart of Embraced Therapy, a therapist who understands that life has many moving pieces because she navigates them too. Angela wears many hats as a therapist, mother, partner, homeschooler, business owner, choir singer, and lifelong learner. This multifaceted experience brings depth and authenticity to her therapeutic work, allowing her to understand the challenge of holding everything together while trying to hold on to yourself.

Angela brings a grounded presence and sense of humor to her work. She believes in laughter, rest, boundaries, connection, and the power of people to transform in the right environment. Rather than pursuing perfection, she champions progress, practice, and the courage it takes to keep showing up for yourself.

The Philosophy Behind "Embraced"

The name “Embraced Therapy” reflects a fundamental belief about what healing requires. Actual therapeutic change happens when people feel entirely accepted; not judged, not fixed, but genuinely embraced for who they are in this moment while being supported in who they’re becoming.

This philosophy shapes every aspect of the practice. Whether someone is navigating relationship challenges, healing from trauma, exploring their identity, or working through depression and anxiety, they receive the same foundational approach: complete acceptance combined with skilled clinical intervention.

The practice recognizes that people don’t exist in isolation. Healing happens within the context of relationships, communities, and broader systems. This is why approaching all therapy through a systemic lens is so important. This understanding shapes how the therapist conducts therapy, not as something that happens to someone, but as something that happens with them, honoring their expertise about their own life while providing professional guidance and support.

Who Finds Home at Embraced Therapy

Embraced Therapy serves individuals and couples throughout Colorado who are seeking more than surface-level solutions. Clients include people working through relationship challenges and communication issues, navigating desire differences and sexual intimacy concerns, and healing from religious or relational trauma.

The practice also specializes in supporting those engaged in identity exploration, whether related to sexuality, gender, neurodivergence, or other aspects of self-discovery. Many clients are navigating life transitions, recovering from burnout, or working to rediscover their authentic voice after years of living according to others’ expectations.

What unites all clients is a willingness to engage in deep, meaningful work and a desire for therapy that honors the complexity of their lives. This isn’t quick-fix therapy; it’s substantial work for people ready to invest in their long-term wellbeing and growth.

A Different Kind of Therapeutic Experience

Embraced Therapy offers both in-person sessions in Denver and online therapy throughout Colorado, ensuring accessibility while maintaining the depth and quality of therapeutic connection. Each session is tailored to the individual’s needs, goals, and preferred pace of change.

The therapeutic approach integrates multiple evidence-based modalities rather than relying on a single technique. This flexibility creates truly personalized treatment that can adapt as clients grow and their needs evolve. Whether someone benefits most from cognitive behavioral approaches, trauma processing, somatic work, or relationship interventions, the therapist designs the treatment plan around what serves the client best.

Beyond individual sessions, Embraced Therapy recognizes that healing often requires addressing broader life circumstances. This might involve coordinating with other healthcare providers, providing resources for continued growth between sessions, or helping clients build support systems that sustain their progress long-term.

A Practice Built on Connection and Growth

What makes Embraced Therapy unique isn’t just the clinical expertise; it’s how professional skill combines with genuine human understanding. This is therapy that acknowledges the challenges of real life while providing tools and insights that create lasting change.

The practice continues to evolve and grow, incorporating new research, refining therapeutic approaches, and expanding to meet the diverse needs of the Colorado community. This commitment to ongoing learning and development ensures that clients receive the most effective, up-to-date care available.

At its core, Embraced Therapy exists to remind people of their capacity for healing, growth, and change. It’s a place where being fully human, with all that entails, is not just accepted but celebrated as the starting point for meaningful progress.
